Route Amendments for 2020 Race

A few months ago we were made aware of major road works to the Ironbridge and Jackfield areas of Telford.

The works are being carried out by Barhale for Severn Trent Water Authority which started late October and are due to be completed late January 2020, however the story doesn't end there.

One of the main sections of pathway we use for the Ironbridge Half Marathon is Severn Walk Way, Jackfield. This is a stretch of public pathway, leading around the back of Lloyds Head and Ladywood Road, Jackfield, and would be our normal route to take runners down to the Ironbridge car park before crossing the bridge and onto the Wharfage.

After lengthy communications with Barhale, we have been informed that Severn Walk Way will potentially be closed until early June 2020, despite all roads being fully open by end of January 2020. This has meant we have had to adjust a small section of the normal route to bypass Severn Walk Way and utilise the Lloyds Head and Ladywood Road.

With this in mind, we will be deploying increased numbers of Marshalls to these sections to ensure runner and public safety for the duration of the event. We will also be putting up road signs on the run up to the event to make road users, walkers and residents aware there will be a race on during the morning of the 29th March 2020.

The full route, and the proposed changes are highlighted in the following images.
